Enjoy the Journey

Are you sick of always thinking things will be good when...?

It's easy to get caught up in a world of, "I'll be happy when...I lose twenty pounds, I'm out of debt, I find that special someone, I get a new job..." I've thought all of these, and with writing in particular, "When I finish my first book, when I've edited that book, published that book..."

You get it, and of course, the list goes on and on. What if instead of always looking to the future for happiness peace or whatever, we try something different? Jonah Ray from The Nerdist podcast introduced such an idea, "enjoy your burrito." Find the good in what's happening right now. Don't always be looking to the future. Be where you are, with who you're with, and what you are right now.

Life is always changing. If something hard is going on right now. Hang on, whatever it is will likely be a little easier or gone next week. If something great is happening right now savor it, make memories. What are you enjoying right now?
