Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature

  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening

  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

  • 1 cup white sugar

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 ½ teaspoon salt

  • 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda

  • 4 ½-5 ½ cups flour

  • 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips

  1. Cream together butter, shortening, and sugars. Add eggs, vanilla, vinegar, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

  2. Add four cups of flour and mix. Add additional flour a half cup at a time if needed. If you're unsure whether you need more flour, pinch a small piece of dough between your fingers. You want it slightly tacky.

  3. Use a tablespoon-sized scoop to ball the dough. Put it on a cookie sheet. Freeze the dough for 30 minutes.

  4. In a preheated oven, bake cookies at 350º for 9-12 minutes. Let the cool on the pan for 5 minutes before removing.

I don't know about you, but I have several chocolate chip cookie recipes. In fact, I collect them like some women collect shoes. This one is my go-to if I want a slightly crunchy sandy texture on the outside with soft insides. Yum!
